Ultra Wide Field Retinal Imaging

Parkview Optometry offers ultra-wide field (UWF) retinal imaging to provide better monitoring and treatment of conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, retinal vasculitis, retinal vein occlusion, rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.  UWF imaging is useful for both adult and pediatric patients.

UWF is a new technology that allows us to provide more specialized care for patients with the above eye conditions (and many more), reducing the need for referrals to other eye specialists.  Our equipment allows high-resolution imaging of the retinal field to capture more than 80% of the entire retina in one image.  The increase in visibility allows for easier discovery of problems in the periphery of the eye that would previously have been undetected.

The possibility of earlier diagnosis with diabetic retinopathy is a huge advantage of the new imaging capabilities.  By seeing more of the periphery of the retina, treatment of retinopathy can begin earlier, thus preventing some of the vision loss that is unavoidable with the laser treatments of the more advanced condition.

Parkview Optometry strives to focus on advanced disease prevention to promote the optic health of your entire family.  Call 949-786-7888 today to make an appointment.
